It’s hard to believe, but it’s been 10 years since the Airline Symposium was started! Since 2006, the event has not only grown in attendance—it has become a “go to” event for airlines, insurers, brokers and others in the aviation industry. With more than 35 US airlines and 25 international carriers participating, and with a tradition of high-energy panels and practical, real-world advice, the Airline Symposium has become part of many airlines’ formal training programs.
On the event’s 10th anniversary, we will continue this tradition. The 2016 Airline Symposium will present a full investigative hearing of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), involving the crash of a Nimbus Airlines aircraft. Complete with witnesses, the hearing will explore numerous issues, including:
- How the investigation and hearing processes work procedurally
- Effectively preparing witnesses
- Addressing the media
- Working with NTSB staff and investigators
- Dealing with families and survivors
- A “who’s who” and “what’s what” at the NTSB
- Preparing for the issues and problems that may arise after an incident or accident
Additional panels will also cover:
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enforcement activities, and the agency’s new enforcement philosophy
- The restructuring of the FAA Chief Counsel’s office
- A look back at 2015 and a look forward to 2016
- What you can do to survive an NTSB investigation
- A case study of how to avoid getting thrown out of an NTSB investigation
- Airline general counsel: What keeps them up and night and what they do about it
